Kilimandjaro mountain
The highest mountain in Africa is 5896m. high. It is an ancient volcano, who offers the particularity to be one of the highest and rarest summits to stay alone.
The usual mistake is to situate the Kilimanjaro in Kenya. But in 1886, England and Germany traced the border between their possessions in East Africa and it was given to Tanzania ( that time " Tanganyika").
Because of the climate's change, the " snows of Kilimanjaro " will remain only a dream after the next twenty years.
Thousands of tourists are climbing it each year ( by 3 ways of different difficulties). Hundreds of them, not enough trained, overestimating their own abilities or neglecting the problem of acclimatisation have to give up because of altitude sickness and breath troubles.
We have to know that Uhuru Peak,at 5896 m., is 500 meters higher than Everest Base Camp, in the Nepal Himalaya, which trekkers take at least 2 weeks to reach from Katmandou...
