Saadani National Park

In XIXe century, this part of the coast close to Bagamoyo was a merchant harbor, which disapeared in the end of colonization. In the beginning of the sixties, the Tanzanian government established a natural reserve of 1.100 km2 who became in 2002 the 13th national park of the country. Practically without any relief, except some low hills, it is covered by forests and savannah. It is the only African reserve on the Indian Ocean coast. Its access is not easy because no road is following the coast.
